Braidwood Corgis are given free reign of our home and acreage. Puppies are welped in house, socialized and given plenty of (supervised) outdoor playtime. Once through the adoption process – we will keep you updated every step of the way with photos and stories. We will also begin to call your puppy by it’s name once you’ve decided!

Preserving the heritage of this beautiful breed through breeding for AKC standard conformation, coat, colors, and temperament.

With nearly 20 years of experience with the breed, Braidwood Corgis specializes in preserving the heritage of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. We don’t breed for blueies, fluffies, or mixes. While we believe there is a dog for every one (from adopted mutts to designer breeds) we are breeding specifically for the most “typy” of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

It is important to do your research on what breed fits within your lifestyle. While adapted to family life – Corgis are a herding/working dog. They thrive on exercise and mental stimulation.

Health.

Braidwood puppies are not at risk for DM, vWDI, EIC, or PRA

At Braidwood Corgis, the health and well-being of our puppies are at the forefront of our breeding program, ensuring that each and every one of our companions leads a happy, healthy life right from the start. We are committed to breeding practices that do everything possible to eliminate the risk of genetic diseases, providing a strong, healthy foundation for our puppies. Our puppies begin their health journey at 3 days old with the first of several regularly scheduled visits to the vet (initially after hours to protect their developing immune systems). Our Veterinarians go above and beyond to ensure each appointment is as enjoyable as possible for our pups.

Puppies receive age-appropriate vaccines and worming, are microchipped, and each litter is registered with the AKC. We encourage all new families to find a local veterinarian as soon as they decide on adoption. Establishing a relationship with a vet early on allows you to build trust and a lasting bond with your care provider.

Temperament.

Corgis: small in stature, big in personality

With a personality as lively and spirited as their unmistakable gait, Pembroke Welsh Corgis are renowned for their amiable and outgoing nature, making them excellent companions. This breed’s intelligence is a defining characteristic, enabling them to excel in obedience, agility, and herding trials, a nod to their historical role as cattle herders.

Beyond their sharp minds and protective instincts, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi possesses a loyal heart. They thrive on companionship, showing endless devotion to their family. Their strong will and independent streak call for consistent, positive training methods and plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep them happy and balanced. In essence, they are not just a pet but a joyful, intelligent companion ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and a little bit of that famous corgi mischief.

The Story of Braidwood.

Braidwood Corgis began years ago after Ellen lost her cherished pet. After realizing that it had become very difficult to find a well-bred healthy corgi true to standard – she wanted to make it easier to connect families with this wonderful breed.

Braidwood Corgis pairs with the best available studs to match our four girl’s genetics, conformation, personality and bloodline. While we do have puppies who have gone on to show we take great pride in connecting the right family with the perfect puppy based on personality and lifestyle. Additionally, the families who adopt from Braidwood have a tendency to stay in touch with us and each other, which is special.

Today Braidwood has matched new family members all over North America. We love the ongoing community that Braidwood has built and we love being able to see Braidwood puppies grow up in their new homes.

Griselda (Zelda) is from the July 15th 2021 litter. Working with Ellen was an absolute delight. The entire process she was quick to respond and very communicative with updates and pictures. Not only was it a great process but we now have a pup is fantastic with other dogs, cats, and even little toddlers and babies! We will definitely be reaching out to Braidwood corgis for number 2.

We drove 14 hours to get Pickles directly from Ellen and every mile was worth it!! Ellen was so easy to work with and made it very clear that she truly loves each and every corgi. Pickles is just the absolute best pup! He gets along with every person and doggo. He loves to play with the big boys but also understands when other dogs need space. He is a snuggle bug but also loves his independence!! He is easy going and super smart…stubborn too but he’s just living up to his true corgi potential! We are also already looking forward to our next Braidwood Corgi!

We encourage adoption whenever possible and have had several rescue dogs in our family throughout the years. Braidwood Corgi’s pledge is to responsibly breed to preserve the breed’s heritage with the highest standards in health and overall temperament.

Having a Braidwood puppy is the start of a long loving commitment between you and your puppy. This is based on trust. We truly believe that trust is built through conversation. That’s why we want to learn a little bit about you and we want you to know about us. We want to ensure our puppies are getting the best homes. And, we want to encourage you to reach out if you have a question – 24/7. We’ll answer as soon as possible – and if we don’t have the answer we’ll find out and learn together.

Of course, the first choice for most people is to come to pick up your new family member in person. Hopefully by the time your puppy is ready to go home, we’ve will have spoken and met seen you many times.

By the time you get here to pick him/her up we will know each other.

We can meet you at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City or Manistee County Blacker Airport.

Pet Nanny Services are also a great option to safely and comfortably escort your puppy in the cabin.

Braidwood will not ship unattended puppies.
